Samsung Group has announced a significant investment in Helix, an AI infrastructure firm.
Samsung Group has revealed plans to invest $1 billion in Helix Digital Infrastructure, a U.S.-based company specializing in AI infrastructure. This investment underscores Samsung's commitment to advancing technology and its potential benefits for the South Korean economy.
The investment will be split between Samsung Electronics, which will contribute $500 million, and five other Samsung affiliates that will collectively invest the remaining $500 million. Helix, founded in June with backing from KKR and other major firms, aims to enhance AI infrastructure capabilities, including data centers and power supplies.
As the demand for AI technology surges, the need for robust infrastructure has become increasingly critical. Helix's initiatives will focus on addressing power availability, a significant challenge in AI development. The partnership with Vistra, a power provider, will play a pivotal role in this effort.
Samsung's strategic investment aims to create synergies between its technological expertise and Helix's infrastructure capabilities, potentially leading to advancements in AI applications within South Korea and beyond.
