N.K. Leader's Sister Slams U.S.-Led Maritime Drill, Vows Nuclear Build-Up

Kim Yo-jong, the influential sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, has sharply criticized a multinational maritime drill led by the United States, labeling it a 'war game.' In a statement released by the Korean Central News Agency, she expressed strong opposition to the recent Pacific Vanguard naval exercises, which included participation from U.S. allies like South Korea and Japan.

Kim claimed that the exercises were designed to threaten North Korea and asserted that they represent a broader U.S. strategy to maintain dominance in the Asia-Pacific region. She stated, 'This was another threatening 'war game' invented by the U.S. for inter-camp confrontation in the region.'

In her remarks, Kim emphasized that North Korea would respond to perceived threats by strengthening its military capabilities, particularly its nuclear arsenal. She insisted that the nation's defense strategy would not change, stating, 'Our will to defend our sovereignty will be expressed in clearer action.'

This statement follows another recent declaration where Kim dismissed calls for North Korea's denuclearization made at the ongoing International Atomic Energy Agency conference in Vienna. Her comments highlight the ongoing tensions in the region and North Korea's commitment to its military agenda amidst international scrutiny.
