Top S. Korean, U.S., Japanese Diplomats Reaffirm N.K. Denuclearization Goal

In a significant diplomatic meeting held in Washington, top diplomats from South Korea, the United States, and Japan reiterated their strong commitment to the complete denuclearization of North Korea. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly High-Level Week, emphasizing the necessity of dialogue with the North Korean regime.

South Korean Foreign Minister Cho Hyun, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi expressed their unified stance in a joint statement, urging North Korea to return to the negotiating table. They highlighted the importance of maintaining peace and stability in the region, particularly concerning the Taiwan Strait.

The diplomats emphasized the need for North Korea to cease its nuclear and ballistic missile programs, in accordance with U.N. Security Council resolutions. They reaffirmed that the path to dialogue remains open and called for renewed efforts towards peace on the Korean Peninsula.
