SK hynix to Provide Up to 50% of R&D Costs Upfront for Partner Firms

SK hynix Inc. has unveiled a significant initiative aimed at enhancing collaboration with partner companies. The company will provide upfront funding of up to 50% of research and development (R&D) costs for its partners. This announcement was made during an event led by CEO Kwak Noh-jung, which saw participation from key executives and representatives from around 100 partner firms.

The program is designed to foster innovation and collaboration in the technology sector. At the initial stages of technology development, SK hynix will offer substantial financial support, ensuring that partner companies can pursue ambitious projects without the burden of upfront costs. Even in cases where projects do not yield successful outcomes, SK hynix will assess the contributions made by partners and provide settlements based on technological achievements.

In addition to financial support, SK hynix plans to offer access to its production infrastructure, allowing partner companies to test and verify their products effectively. This initiative is expected to enhance the reliability and performance of new technologies developed in collaboration with SK hynix.

Furthermore, the company is expanding its consulting programs and low-interest financing options for second- and third-tier suppliers, indicating a commitment to support the entire supply chain. As part of its efforts to strengthen relationships with suppliers, SK hynix will also double its fund for supplier payments to 100 billion won (approximately $73.6 million).
