The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) has raised its economic growth forecast for South Korea for the year 2026 to 3.7%. This marks a significant increase from the previous forecast of 2.6% made in June.
The OECD attributes this optimistic projection to South Korea's robust export performance and increased production levels. The organization expects that these factors will continue to drive economic growth in the coming years.
In addition to the 2026 forecast, the OECD also predicts that South Korea's economy will grow by 2.6% in 2027, an increase from the earlier estimate of 1.9%. The Ministry of Finance and Economy noted that this revision highlights South Korea's strong growth momentum, particularly among G20 nations.
Consumer prices in South Korea are projected to rise by 3% in 2026, which is also an upward revision from earlier forecasts. The OECD's report comes alongside similar optimistic updates from other financial institutions, including the Asian Development Bank, which recently raised its growth forecast for South Korea to 3.2% for the same year.
Overall, the OECD's revised growth outlook reflects confidence in South Korea's economic resilience amid global market fluctuations.
