Recent findings indicate that North Korea has deployed approximately 100,000 workers overseas, primarily in China and Russia.
Among these workers, a notable number are reportedly engaged in the manufacturing of military drones at Russian facilities, raising concerns about the implications for international security and compliance with United Nations sanctions.
The Multilateral Sanctions Monitoring Team (MSMT) highlighted that despite a 2019 deadline for repatriation mandated by the UN Security Council, many countries continue to host North Korean laborers.
These workers are estimated to generate between $450 million and $800 million annually, which is believed to support North Korea's unlawful nuclear and missile programs.
The report also noted that North Korean authorities maintain strict control over these workers, limiting their movements and interactions to prevent defection, which poses serious human rights concerns.
