US firm Grid Dynamics teams with Doosan Robotics on AI factory automation

A US technology company, Grid Dynamics, has announced a strategic partnership with South Korea's Doosan Robotics to accelerate the adoption of so-called physical AI across manufacturing and logistics operations. The deal marries advanced AI software with Doosan's industrial collaborative robots, or cobots.

Under the agreement, Grid Dynamics will supply Doosan cobot customers with an end-to-end software stack for physical AI, along with integration services meant to make deployment simpler and faster. The two firms say the combined offering will let manufacturers roll out AI-powered robotic systems more quickly while broadening the tasks that can be automated.

The partnership targets jobs that traditional robotics software struggles with, such as inspecting complex-shaped objects, assembling products from variable components, and packaging items that are deformable or have never been seen before. Central to the tie-up is Grid Dynamics' GAIN Platform, which supports the integration of physical AI models and uses digital twin technology to optimize and monitor robotic operations.

Doosan Robotics is one of the world's leading cobot makers, with machines used across manufacturing, logistics, food and beverage, electronics, automotive and healthcare. Unlike caged industrial robots, its cobots are built to work safely beside people, relying on force and torque sensors to detect collisions and limit contact. Its lineup spans the lightweight A Series, the high-precision M Series, the heavy-duty H Series with payloads up to 25 kilograms (55 pounds), and the food-grade, NSF-certified P Series.

The companies also plan a joint go-to-market push, offering an integrated hardware-and-software physical AI stack as a turnkey package for industrial clients. Beyond commercial rollout, they intend to collaborate on research to advance robotics policy control, the technology that governs how robots learn and carry out complex manipulation tasks.

"Our mission is to provide industrial users with production-grade solutions," said Ilya Katsov, CTO for the Americas at Grid Dynamics, adding that the tie-up enables a full-stack approach using the global reach of both companies. The alliance underscores a wider industry race to fuse AI with robotics hardware as factories seek smarter, more flexible automation.
